Summer Camp - June 24-30

Posted on Mar 9 2018 - 3:55pm
Troop 1518 will be returning to Goshen Scout Reservation and Camp Olmstead in 2018. We will be attending Summer camp from Sunday June 24th until Saturday June 30th. Please sign up now at https://springfield1518.mytroop.us/node/2408 for the premier long term camp of the year!
Please note that there is a new additional required ( in addition to the BSA Health and Medical forms parts A, B, and C ) Goshen Health advisory. Last year Goshen required this form to be signed by your Doctor. This has changed for this year and now only requires a parent to sign. This form is required and you will not be able to attend Goshen without this form!
The pricing structure remains unchanged from last year with early bird pricing of $360 for Scouts and $225 for Adults until April 13th.
From April 14th until May 18th the price increases $40 to $400 / $265 and,
after May 18 it increases an additional $40 to $440 / $305.
Anyone that registers and pays in full prior to April 13th will also receive the free Goshen hat for 2018. Obviously it is much better to register as soon as possible.
There is also a $50 bus fee that is good for a one way or round trip from the Fairfax County Government Center to Goshen and back. There are a couple of programs that also have additional fees.
Go to the sign up and you will find files that will help to answer your questions and help to prepare you for an awesome week at Goshen. Please read through the information and begin to look at the Merit Badge classes you might be interested in.
First year Scouts will participate in the "Trailshead" program which emphasizes basic Scout skills. We understand that Your Scout may have already completed some of the basics but we feel that the basic skills are the building blocks for a successful Scouting career and believe the repetition is extremely helpful to the young Scouts. The Trailshead Scouts will complete most Tenderfoot requirements, many of the Second Class requirements and some First Class requirements. They will also earn their Totin' Chip and Firm'n Chit. They will also have the opportunity to earn 3 predetermined Merit Badges one of which will be Swimming.
We can often fit in one or two additional Merit badges as time allows. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out to me and I will answer your questions or find the answer for you. I know this seems like a long ways out but it will be here before you know it. I really enjoy Summer Camp and I am already looking forward to spending my week with all of you!
Yours in Scouting,
ASM Alan R Hannen

You can donate uniform components that no longer fit your son and if you need to replace lost pieces, or change sizes, check with me before you go buy. I will take donations at the troop meetings or you can give them to the scoutmaster.
